Becoming Blind in Dreams

Having your vision obscured is a scary ordeal to go through. With impaired vision, you are no longer able to see clearly, all those important to you and your own environment. Dreaming of being blind in dreams may have different interpretations depending on the situation you are in.

Becoming Blind in Dreams

To dream of yourself with impaired vision may imply that you have a great tendency to overlook things and not pay enough attention to the more trivial things of life. You may be blinded by your great ambitions for success or power that you forget those important around you. At this point, you should turn around and realize that power and success does not measure up to the extraordinariness of just having family and friends.

Becoming Blind in Dreams

Not being able to see in your dream may indicate that you feel lost and don’t exactly know where your life is headed towards. You are full of uncertainty and doubt due to deprivation of a solution to your problems. You lack the information necessary and clear state of mind to make a decision to change this feeling of unease.

Becoming Blind in Dreams

Being blind in your dream may symbolize your inability to make connections and relationships with your loved ones due to a barrier of mistrust you built around yourself. If you feel this way, try to slowly learn to trust those around and not think negatively of them. In order to trust others, you also need to first trust yourself and have confidence to make decisions.

Becoming Blind in Dreams

Another interpretation of being blind in your dream is that you feel someone around you is hiding the truth away from you. You feel betrayed by this thought and want to learn of the truth, no matter how harsh and cruel it may be. To you, it is better to know the truth, than blindly live in false illusions.

  1. I completely disagree with the so called dream interpreters! not every bad dream necessarily means something bad . it’s witch doctors who interpret things as bad to threaten people! some dreams can be from the evil one to threaten you but in actual sense nothing bad is coming.

    • I appreciate your perspective, and indeed, the realm of dream interpretation is not an exact science, but rather, a discipline deeply rooted in human psychology, cultural understanding, and ancient traditions. To be clear, dream interpretation is far from promoting fear or threats. On the contrary, its purpose is to provide insight, clarity, and often comfort.

Your statement that not all bad dreams signify something negative is absolutely correct. The interpretation of dreams is not a literal process. A dream that appears to be negative might not necessarily predict something negative in real life. Dreams often use symbols and metaphors to communicate, and these symbols are unique to each person. For example, dreaming about a storm might not necessarily predict misfortune; it could simply mean that the dreamer is going through a period of emotional turmoil or change.

As for your claim about dreams being potentially influenced by “the evil one”, from a psychological perspective, dreams are generally seen as products of our own subconscious mind. If a dream seems threatening or evil, it might be reflecting a person’s internal fears, conflicts, or anxieties. Interpreting these dreams can help individuals understand and confront these feelings.

As I was saying, a dream interpreter’s role is not to predict the future or to propagate fear, but to guide individuals towards better understanding of themselves and their subconscious feelings. If you find value in it, that’s wonderful. If you don’t, that’s perfectly fine too. It’s a deeply personal process and it won’t resonate with everyone. The beauty of interpretation lies in the eye of the beholder.

    • That’s not true either. I follow the God of Isreal and he gives warning dreams all throughout the Bible and he gives them to me all the time. I have more warning dreams than I do encouraging ones. God communicates in dreams in symbolism and some times they are super direct and clear. The point either way it to draw near to him for understanding and direction.

      Reply
      • Indeed, I appreciate your perspective. Similarly, the presence of dreams and visions as a means of divine communication is evident in the scriptures. In the Old Testament, we have instances where figures such as Joseph and Daniel are endowed with the ability to understand and interpret dreams, signifying divine messages. The biblical Joseph, for example, accurately interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams about the seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine.

You’re absolutely right that the purpose of these divine dreams, whether symbolic or clear, is to draw individuals closer to God and seek His wisdom and guidance. In the context of your own experiences, it sounds like you’re being drawn towards a deeper connection and understanding of the God of Israel through your dreams.

However, interpreting dreams, especially ones that involve symbolism or direct messages, requires discernment and deep spiritual insight. That’s where years of experience and spiritual understanding comes into play. It’s not always easy to discern the exact message or warning that God is trying to communicate through these dreams. It’s essential to seek God in prayer for clarity and direction after having such dreams, just as you’ve mentioned.

Furthermore, the predominance of warning dreams over encouraging ones may be a calling for you to intercede, to pray, or to take certain actions. These dreams can often serve as a spiritual call to action.

  2. I dreamed that my two kids (3y/o & 5y/o) and my niece (7y/o) were with me and I was taking them fishing. We ended up at this huge clubhouse. Super nice. There was a fishing pond there but we had no rods or fishing gear with us, so I chose to just let them play in the clubhouse. As soon as they started playing, I became partially blind. My eyes would only open just a little bit. So I could not see much. I panicked. I yelled for the kids. We all went upstairs in the clubhouse. There was a bedroom upstairs. I made them all lay down so I could at least make sure they were safe and I knew where they were, then I looked at my phone and I could only see the silhouette of my husband’s name in my missed calls… so I pressed it and called for help. I called my husband and he came right away. When he came , my eye sight was restored and the first thing I read was a sign in the clubhouse saying that it costs $4500 to rent the clubhouse for the day. The lady that runs this clubhouse pulled up and was pissed. She rolled her eyes At me and looked at the pricing sign. My husband grabbed me and the kids and we left.

My husband and I haven’t been seeing eye to eye lately. I know this dream has something to do with him. But also me. I think sometimes I am soo dedicated to him that I neglect pieces of myself. I want to learn more about me. And I will. Thanks for reading!

    • The sudden onset of partial blindness in your dream is a potent symbol. It represents a feeling of fear, helplessness, and the fear of the unknown. It could be a reflection of your perceived lack of control over your life, especially regarding your relationship with your husband. In the dream, you experience anxiety and panic as your visibility diminishes, signifying a sense of uncertainty and insecurity in your waking life.

Interestingly, the act of making the children lie down signifies your instinctive need to maintain control and ensure safety, even in challenging situations. It reflects your maternal instincts and highlights your strength and resilience in the face of adversity.

Your interaction with your phone and the missed calls from your husband could indicate feelings of disconnect or missed opportunities in your relationship. The restoration of your sight upon your husband’s arrival suggests that you believe his presence or actions have a significant impact on your sense of stability and clarity.

Let’s consider an anecdote to further illustrate this. Imagine a person, who often dreams about being unable to see clearly. One day, he realizes that these dreams began when he started a new job where he felt unsure and unprepared. Understanding this, he takes steps to learn more about his role and seek guidance from his colleagues. As his confidence grows, he finds that his dreams of impaired vision gradually disappear.

Similarly, your dream can act as a catalyst for self-understanding and personal growth. The dream represents your feelings of vulnerability and the challenges you’re currently facing. But it also shows your strength, resilience, and the care you have for your loved ones.

To navigate this period of uncertainty, you might want to engage in self-reflection and possibly seek professional guidance. Consider discussing your feelings with your husband and try to bridge the communication gap that seems to be causing tension.

  3. I dreamed I was carrying a girl on my back who has back problems n the whole time I’m blind while she directs where we go

    Reply
    • Dreaming of carrying a girl with back problems on your back while you’re blind and she’s directing your path primarily signifies the feeling of responsibility, dependency, and a sense of being led in a direction without having complete control over the situation. Your blindness in the dream could symbolize a lack of clarity or understanding about a situation in your waking life. The girl on your back could symbolize someone or something you feel responsible for, or it could represent a part of yourself that is vulnerable or in need of support.

The act of carrying the girl signifies your strength, compassion, and sense of responsibility. You might be someone who is always ready to lend a helping hand, or you may feel a deep sense of responsibility towards the people in your life. This could indicate that you’re currently facing a situation where you’re required to offer support, whether emotional or physical, to someone close to you.

The girl’s back problems indicate a sense of vulnerability and dependence. It might suggest that you feel someone in your life is relying on you heavily, or it could indicate your own feelings of vulnerability. It’s essential to remember that dreams are subjective, and the meanings can vary depending on the dreamer’s personal life and experiences.

Now, your blindness in the dream is quite significant. It might symbolize feelings of uncertainty, confusion, or lack of control in a particular aspect of your life. The fact that the girl is guiding you despite your blindness suggests that you’re being led by someone else’s perspective or are relying on others to guide you through a situation you don’t fully understand.

  4. I had a dream of being partially blind I could see but it was not clear and without colour but this started immediately I had a sleep paralysis and could not open my eyes but when I finally did which took longer than before I realize I was blind,my eyes were open but I could not see…I could only see dark movements around my face but sometimes I could see clearly I really don’t get it

    • Dreaming about blindness often symbolizes a lack of awareness, ignorance, or naivety. It might suggest you’re overlooking something or not seeing a situation for what it truly is. In this dream, your partial blindness could represent feelings of uncertainty or confusion about a particular situation in your waking life. The inability to see clearly and without color may indicate you’re feeling disconnected from the world around you or struggling to understand your current environment or situation.

Sleep paralysis in a dream can reflect feelings of helplessness or feeling trapped in a situation. The struggle to open your eyes may mirror struggles in your waking life to gain clarity or understanding about something important.

Seeing dark movements around your face could represent unknown factors or people in your life causing anxiety or concern. These unknowns may be things you’re not sure how to approach or address.

  5. I own a motorcycle and ride it on daily basis. For the past 2 months I am recurring a dream as follows:

A colleague of mine is wishing me when both of us are on bike very near to office. To wish him back I am removing my helmet. Suddenly the helmet is half open and a part is struck right in front of my eyes which obstructed my vision completely. Suddenly the bike is accelerated and I am trying to control it with my hands. I feel like its going out of control and going to crash somewhere.

This situation alerts my brain, hands and legs are being alerted by brain. I force open my eyes and then understand it’s only a dream. After waking up my hands and legs are pumped and takes few minutes to come out of the caution back to normalcy. I am completely awake.

I don’t usually have same dreams repeated. But this one is repeating again and again for past few days.

  6. I had a dream last night that as I was in an office for a job interview. Suddenly, I developed a medical condition where my vision would get blurry. It would sometimes get so blurry that I couldn’t even see anything other than sense light, and then it could clear away to almost normal, or in-between. Suddenly, I am trying to navigate getting home and remembering things I needed to do, and missing an event for a friend. Everyone kept ignoring that I had this fluctuating vision condition, and was asking me to do vision based tasks, and even drive, not understanding that at any moment, I could lose my vision again.

  7. During this time of quarantine, I awoke from a dream that felt so real, that I am still questioning its meaning a week later. In my dream, I woke up and I was completely blind. I reached for my cell phone on my bedside table to call my daughter, but couldn’t. I made my way out of my apartment to my neighbor’s to call my daughter. And that is where my dream ended. I am looking for an interpretation for this, it is occupying a lot of my thoughts.

    Reply
    • Obviously I am not an expert, however this dream definitely signifies anxiety and worry (at least to me). The fact that you also took the effort to go all the way to another’s house (this house being your neighbors in this particular situation) shows a fear of abandonment. To me, this dream shows that you’re taking your relationship with your daughter for granted, and you ignore it in pursuit for something greater, or maybe you ‘show off’ your relationship with your daughter to other mums or people in general as an ego boost: while not giving much thought to your daughter. This dream shows that actually, deep down you want to treasure this relationship, and you want to become even closer maybe- however, because of your past actions (maybe not taking the relationship seriously?) you fear of abandonment, and your daughter not wanting the same relationship anymore.

Have you been going through any mental illness recently, such as depression or intense worrying thoughts? I’m not sure, but these definitely spring to my mind when reading this. Honestly, I would definitely try reconnecting with your daughter more, and if you are dealing with something- talk to someone. Anyway, just my thoughts.
I could be completely wrong, you’ve got to have the courage to look at yourself, even the ugly parts you’d rather not see to truly see what true emotions this dream is trying to bring to the surface.

In my short 2 hour nap I dreamt that I was trying to FaceTime my father off of my phone, the screen had cracked completely and started to become staticky (like television when there is no signal), I couldn’t see anything on my phone. Then it was no longer my phone, my vision become so blurry I had to squint, unable to see I became blind. I was in so much panic, That I started to burst into tears screaming that I couldn’t see and that all I wanted was to speak to my father. Meanwhile my boyfriend and his friend were just standing in front of me doing nothing to help. I felt like a crazy person in my dream. I woke up sweating.

To where I can really only focus on one thing while everything else starts to look blurry and out of sight. Then everything blurs and everything is at a dark shade. I look at my arms move them around confused at what is happening. I wake up with my heart beat goin at a pretty fast rate.

I always wake up before they shut.

Sometime during my last nap I was dreaming about walking around on the 2nd floor of some sort of theater. While walking past the restroom area toward the stairs, my view started fading away. Panicked, I try to find a light switch as my first reaction was that the lights were going out. It didn’t feel right though because it wasn’t getting dark, it was just fading away. I could still hear and feel what I touched. I asked someone who was passing me if the lights were on and what time it was. I don’t remember what their response was, but by this time I had completely lost all visual input from the dream. To imagine this, it was as if my eyes were no longer dreaming, but not awake, even though the dream was still going on as far as thought, sound, and touch. I eventually woke myself up and was relieved when I could see.

  16. This info was very on que. I rarely dream but this make all the sense to me. It’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. My dream was very scary to me. I became instantly blind as I was at a family gathering. People noticed I was holding on to sides of walls and I was panicking. I asked people to leave me alone because I was trying to make sense of what was happening to me and crying all of a sudden from shock. But after a short while of touching walls , I ended up outside while I fell to my knees and started digging in the ground. Heard my Mom’s voice ( deceased) above telling me to keep digging. She said the gold is there. Sure enough after digging with my bare fingers , I felt rocks but couldn’t see it. My mom said; there’s the gold , you got it. After that my eyes started going crazy in psychedelic color and I crab my eyeballs to sooth them from the commotion going on in my eyes. After that I woke up.
Trying to understand about the gold part.

In my dream i was told i was going blind.
However the dark circle would disappear if i focused solely on my left eye and the circle.
In the same dream i had lost my favorite and most comfortable shoes. After getting the news about going blind, i was frantically looking for my shoes to get away from the area. After looking all over for my shoes, i found them neatly resting next to the trash can. Not by me, by someone else. In addition next to the trash can was the mats, dark blue with stars, my children and i used to sleep on (in the dream). Rejoicing about finding my shows and bewildered about the mats, i woke up!
i have no idea what the dream means. It is quite vivid in my head.
Thank you, i appreciate any insights.

I was literally struggling and there waschaos in my mind about what happened suddenly. What could go wrong suddenly. I’m struggling to contact my family through phone, could get through one of the call, somehow, but couldn’t get through the person. Suddenly the phone slipped off my hands. I’m trying to look for my phone but not getting through. Multiple thoughts are running through my mind. Going to the doctor, how am I gonna kids back from school and many entangled connecting thoughts. It was a long dream, which lasted for about an hour. And all through it I was struggling and I got up very panicked and disturbed. Though after realizing that it was a dream, I was feeling grateful for having eyes with vision.

I was with my friends and I had to find our shoes. We had number in it; 79,11,71…I don’t know what number I was to wear,I had a card and I tried looking at it but everything went so bright that I couldn’t see the number, how much I tried to. Later another friend came and said you are wearing no.79 but yours is no.11 and she gave it the shoes to me. I wore it then my vision was perfect again.

And when I’m trying to do something or find something which is important at that time my sight just weakens to nothing and every time it happens I think, “agh not this again” like its something that happens in reality. I have perfectly fine vision so I’m confused why it keeps happening in my dreams.

I just remember wondering and walking along a beautiful and abandoned path/road and as I’m taking everything in, my vision starts to blur. I move my glasses up and sometimes it becomes clear but sometimes it doesn’t, so then I proceed to rub my eyes and nothing happens. Even with my glasses on my vision is entirely blurred. Occasionally there are a few objects that pop out that have vibrant colors. However, I normally try to continue walking as everything progressively gets darker until I wake up or I’m suddenly thrown into a different time and place.

I felt that everything I’m doing is starting to make any sense at all; pursuing my dreams, having a one-sided love, etc. And then suddenly we’re outside of a creepy house/cave and it was so dark you cannot see a thing inside and its so long. My ex-bf, a friend and I went inside and they both trying to assist me. My friend didn’t help me in the path at all like he’s just looking for himself but my ex-bf, he helped me even our path was so rough and he even got wounds and everything just to make sure I’m fine. When we were in the cave I felt that I belong to the quite, dark and lonely place until we reach the end and its just bright.

And at a certain distance anything I was touching became invisible, shimming and transparant. I screamed for help and a coworker came to help me. No matter what I did I could not get to her. It was like the floor between me and what I thought must be the door was infinite. Finally my alarm woke me up and then I began working.

  45. My twin brother committed suicide 9 weeks ago & since then (when I do manage to sleep) I keep dreaming I’ve gone blind ! He comes to me in my dream hugs me & tells me everything is going to be ok . I see him clearly but nothing else . I wake up in a real state of panic & it takes ages for me to calm down . Please can anyone tell me WHY I dream this horrid nightmare 🙁 .

    • Well, he was your twin, so he must’ve had your back. So, when you are blind in the dream, of course he’s there to make everything better. And, since you see him and nothing else, that may mean you feel alone without him or that he was the only one you could count on. I don’t know your personal life or anything, but that’s what I thought. Hope it helps at all

  46. I had a dream about being with friends but then I turn blind when reaching for a biscuit in a biscuit box and I can’t choose the one I like because I can’t see so I have to guess. I think this is related to how I can’t feel things in my day to day life I don’t know if I enjoy things because I’m numbed out, I’m disconnected from my feelings due to recurrent trauma during my childhood. I like how my sense of feeling, my ability to feel is represented as something as basic as eye sight in my dream. And how in my daily life I can’t figure out what I like doing, what I enjoy doing with my time because I can’t really feel pleasure. In my day to day life I can’t see what biscuit I’m reaching for until I’ve already bitten it and realised i don’t like it

  47. I had a dream that a doctor told me I would eventually go blind. Could be years though. The next day I woke up with blurry vision (still dreaming). I could see but when I looked in the mirror there was a black film forming over my eyes and my vision was obscured. The doctor recommended a treatment that would make me blind permanently but assure no other damage. I told him I wanted to see as long as I could. I still had some vision. I believed in God and he could heal me. I then asked my son and family to just sit in front of me because they were the last thing I want to remember seeing. I got woke up so that is all I remember.

    Horrible dream seemed so real.

I kept losing my peripheral vision and it would slowly turn from my peripherals being “blank” to not being able to see anything at all then my vision would return momentarily and it would begin to fade out again, each time fading quicker and vision taking longer to return until it eventually didn’t return at all. I decided I was having a stroke in my dream and insisted my husband help and call 911 but he didn’t hear me or believe me or want to help or something because he just continued on as if every thing were normal.

  50. In my dream I was blind and could not see anything. But I could hear. It was as if I was living life blind and was overjoyed when I woke up and could see. It seemed so real because in this dream there was only voices talking to me and nothing else. I honestly thought I went blind.
