Lately, I've been having these lucid dreams. Four days ago, I had a dream where I was discussing seeing my deceased parents in heaven to the devil. He said he would, but then he tied me to a tree and my dogs suddenly started eating me alive. I woke up, and had various bite marks and scratches on my collarbone and back. I'll skip the lesser-death dreams, and come to last night. I dreamt that I was being murdered over, and over, and over again in the same dream. I went to heaven, and was murdered in heaven, and I was in a paradox. In these paradoxes, I would hear my parents telling me to leave, or watch out, beware. I don't know what this means, but it would be nice if you all could help. Thank You.

Lucid death dreams

First of all, any dream with a warning should be taken seriously and not be ignored. Unfortunately, it is not immediately obvious why the dreamer was warned. But, a closer look at the dream may give us a hint.
Before I get into the actual dream, I just wanted to let the dreamer know that strange, nightmarish dreams can sometimes have a physical cause. Some possible causes would be medication or drugs (legal or illegal). Additionally, Edgar Cayce stated that a spinal injury can cause nightmares. Although not common, they are possible causes.
First of all, having lucid dreams is usually a good sign. It is typically an indication that the dreamer has reached a certain stage of development.
As for the dream itself –
My guess is that you did not actually talk to the devil or, at least, not the devil as many of us think of the devil. It may have been some spirit or perhaps a part of your unconscious. As you wrote, this dream is a paradox. The devil, who is in heaven, is usually associated with hell or, more generically, with the underworld. In the underworld sense, the devil is less a personification of evil and is more a ruler of this underworld and is, therefore, a ruler of the dead. Thus, talking to the ruler of the dead about seeing your dead parents makes sense.
But, this lower realm also has a symbolic meaning. In psychology (especially Jungian psychology), it can represent the lower level of the psyche. This lower realm would be the unconscious.
However, the shaman also visits the lower world. Thus, this dream may also have something to do with shamanism.
A little aside about heaven and hell –
Do heaven and hell exist? Are they human concepts that have nothing to do with reality? Or, are they real places that people go to when they die. Edgar Cayce describes one of his trance-like states where he sees the hellish and the heavenly. http://www.near-death.com/experiences/cayce01.htmlBack to the dream --
The devil tells the dreamer that he can see his parents (assuming that you are a guy.) But, then you are tied to a tree and your dogs started eating you alive. This whole scene certainly comes across as being both very frightening and very puzzling.A little aside about the sequence of events in our dreams –
The sequence of events in our dreams is often important. This is because, in the logic of our dreams, one event can cause the next.Back to the dream –
The dreamer is tied to a tree and eaten by his dogs because he wants to see his parents. This is the price that the dreamer must pay to see his parents. The dogs do not represent your actual dogs but are rather symbols of the mythological dog or dogs that guard the entrance to the underworld. The most famous canine guardian is the three headed Cerberus. BTW -- these dream dogs may actually be real spirits that show themselves as dogs. However, there are other canine guardians of the underworld beside Cerberus. “There is a curious connection between dogs and travel to the realm of the dead. It can be found particularly in Indo-European mythologies, although it also occurs in Egypt, Siberia, and north America. According to the Vedic mythology of ancient India, for instance, the deceased must pass by the four-eyed dogs of Yama, king of the dead; and Greek mythology tells of the dog Kerberos [also spelled Cerberus], popularly endowed with three heads, who watches the entrance to Hades. Mention must also be made of the white, red-eared hounds of Celtic myth. But the idea of the underworld watchdog appears to have reached its fullest, and most complex expression among the Germanic peoples.” http://www.primitivism.com/hellhounds.htm
But what is the meaning of your being tied to a tree? In the dreams that I have looked at, there are several possible meanings for a tree. However, in this dream, I believe that the tree refers to the dreamer’s spinal cord. Thus, the dreamer’s being tied to the tree means that the dreamer is unable to leave his physical body via the silver cord. http://www.near-death.com/experiences/research12.html
So, we now have a good feel for the meaning of your parent’s warning. They realized that what you would have to go through if you tried to visit them.
Hope this helps.
